Charlottesville a few weeks ago

One of our favorite Fall routines is heading to beautiful Charlottesville, VA, home of UVA, James Madison, Thomas Jefferson, apple picking at the scenic Carter Mountain orchard, the amazingly beautiful Veritas Vineyard, and Blue Mountain Brewery.

Just a small plug for Blue Mountain: this little place makes great beer, but almost more noteworthy is their menu. Local, fresh, organic ingredients; fantastic flavors, and overall a very high quality selection of food (they don't own a deep fryer). It is an AMAZING place to stop if you're in the area. They have a lovely view, a huge outdoor seating area, and lately, a ridiculous line of people and cars at almost any time of day. Our friend Mitch is a brewer here and we're happy to see his hard work contribute to the success of the place.

Here are some pics from our trip a few weeks ago (we're planning to go again tomorrow.) We went apple picking on the crazy busiest day of the year, and here are Andrew and Emmett in the parking lot after a very slow and long trip.
Some dude playing with our kid

Some more pictures from the same weekend: Emmett at home before the neighborhood's Waldorf School Fall Fest. I think he had just burned his mouth on some oatmeal, and after comforting him I just had to take a picture of the perfect little tear on his face :(
One of our awesome neighbor girls, Naomi:
Emmett at the Fall Fest's ridiculous petting zoo. You can't tell how amazing it was from these pictures (our stupid camera swallowed a boatload of awesome pictures) but they had a baby shetland pony, a baby alpaca (no agility contests here), a FAINTING GOAT, piglets, a calf, weird chickens and other caged animals... it was great.
