Our New Friend

UPDATE: Sasha (now Phoebe) has found a happy home! She has taken over her new house and yard, and looks so happy in her new photos and videos. Her new dads are completely over the moon, and we are thrilled for the new family :)

Ouch!

Literally overnight, our little inchworm has turned into a full on hands-and-knees, belly-off-the-ground, crawling, electrical cord yanking, table-tipping, dog-terrorizing monster. It is SO cute and we couldn't be happier for him, except for the bumps and bruises that have come along with it. Videos to come, when we get done babyproofing!

9 Months Old

Hello from snowy, confused weather Virginia! We have had a crazy few weeks since Emmett turned 9 months old! From a horrible stomach flu that thankfully Emmett avoided; to a snowstorm that left us with a foot of snow (nothing compared to DC and Baltimore); to poor Emmett getting sick with RSV (a respiratory virus); then another snowstorm; and a small one just today! E is on the mend from his virus, we've been doing lots of snuggling and helping him become more mobile.

Aside from his virus, he had a good 9-month checkup. He is 31" long, 23lbs 7 oz - but he had lost some weight while sick. (The doctor said he had reserves!)

He's presently above the 97% curve for height, and about 85% for weight.

Overdue pictures

Hello all, just sharing a few pictures after weeks of negligence!
On New Year's Eve, Nana and Papa were amazingly generous and came to town to visit, and baby-sit for us on NYE so that we could enjoy an evening out with our dear friends Brooke and Andy. Here's Brooke, Juddy, Teresa and Emmett:

Below is Emmett's new big big smile, which we are seeing more and more of. He is having what seems to be a learning spurt which is blowing our minds. He suddenly started feeding himself the other day. He's doing the "inch worm" and finding ways to get across the room, without really crawling. He's started pulling up to a standing position at day care, but he hasn't done it yet at home. This past weekend he said "bottle" (bobble) twice! Tonight, he sounded like he asked for "more" when eating dinner, but Mommy's excitement made him shy and he just gave his big smile afterwards. He's a different baby than he was 2 weeks ago, and we can't wait to see what he has in store for us!

A present from Emilia, age 6, in Boston

Emmett's new Peace PJ's:

8 Months Old

Happy New Year! On January 1, Emmett turned 8 months old. He is about to get his two top teeth (they're visible but haven't cut through yet); he's on the verge of crawling; laughing when he finds things funny; still jumping as much as he can; and the other day.... he said the word Daddy! Not Dada -- Daddy. It was probably unintentional, since Daddy was nowhere around when it happened, but it stopped me in my tracks to hear this little voice say an unmistakable word. His only other word is "lala", so we'll keep you posted!
