Making the most of Winter

Hello, again!
Teresa here, with another mass photo post covering the past few weeks. Like most of the East coast, we're enjoying a very mild winter (though as I write, outside the window behind me is the very first snow accumulation of the season - beautifully sticking to every tree branch in sight! It looks magical.)
The worst part about winter is daylight savings time. This has always been a pet peeve, but when you have a toddler that you need to entertain for several hours each evening, it can be downright miserable (especially when he chooses to not be entertained by your sideshow.) To combat indoor boredom, we have started baking. Banana bread, banana muffins. Yes, I am turning into my mother. Here's Emmett approving of our most recent recipe, which I think is a keeper.
Andrew has gotten Emmett a fishing pole, and they were practicing in our tiny front yard the other day. I heard a screaming - not sure if it was happy or not, I ran out front and found Andrew "fishing" for Emmett with the black plastic attachment at the end of the line. Andrew would "cast", Emmett would chase it, and shriek with delight as Andrew reeled it in and he could never quite catch it. But we like to think of our son as smarter than a fish, for sure.
Waking up from a nap:
With the beautiful weather this past weekend, we took the dogs and headed to Charlottesville!! Oh, how we love this little city near the mountains. A beautiful 60-degree day in February, views from Afton Mountain after our hike. Then, we went to our favorite brewery and enjoyed an afternoon outside in the sun.

A belated update

Happy February, everyone! Yikes! We have wanted to write updates from 2012, but haven't felt like we could until we finally shared the rest of our photos from the holidays (Christmas in NY.) So much time has passed that the only thing left to do is share them all in one mega-picture-post. Here you go!

Christmas Eve - Grandpa Joe, Bridget, Elise and Emmett getting ready for Santa. This included going outside to sprinkle food for the reindeer, writing a letter, leaving out cookies and milk, and opening up the fireplace.

Andrew's mother, Debi (Emmett's Grandma Debi) and her sister, Carol:

Carol and her daughter, Jenny:
Christmas morning at Gramma Debi and Grandpa Joe's house! Santa came!

Christmas afternoon at Bobby and Amanda's house in Albany:

The week after Christmas at Nana and Pop Pop's house. Sarah and the kids came down from Maine, and Emmett got some bonding time with his cousins.
