Happy Update

We hope all of our family and friends are enjoying a beautiful, happy weekend! We are just loving it -- first, the exciting news that Bobby and Amanda are ENGAGED!! After dating for just 9 years they finally got the big question out of the way. The Ilnickis cast our vote for a 10-10-10 wedding in Ireland (though these crazy kiddos will most likely they'll wait until he's done with med school and she's done with pharm school.) Maybe 09-10-11 in Hawaii? Congratulations you two!!

In other exciting news, Emmett is using his Johnny Jump Up--

-- and spending time with his BFF, Juddy. Where they used to just stare off into space while propped up against each other, they now smile and reach for each other and make noises back and forth. It is SO CUTE.

Big Boy Update

Hello! Yesterday, Emmett had his 4 month checkup and it went very well! He is 27 inches long (above 97th percentile for height); 18lbs 1oz (95th percentile for weight) and his head is 17 inches in circumference (80th percentile.) He actually had a bit of stranger anxiety with the doctor, and of course the shots were no fun, but overall it was a very positive visit - he's doing just fine.

Emmett has been a pretty great sleeper all along, but recently has been waking up in the middle of the night 2-3 times. Our pediatrician said that there's a good chance this wakefulness is just because, being the size of a 9 month old (!), he could use something with a little bit more substance than breastmilk and formula. So we decided to take his advice and start him on "solid" foods - rice cereal with apple juice and carrot puree. We tried it and it was pretty good, and the little guy seemed to agree - he gobbled up the entire thing! We'll keep you posted on how effectively it helped him sleep...

Here's the video of him trying "real" food for the first time --

And a few minutes later, he almost took Andrew's finger off --

Labor Day Festivities

Hello after a happy and long weekend! We just returned from a trip to the mountains of southwest Virginia, celebrating our friends Dawn and Bruce's 25th wedding anniversary. We stayed at a nice B&B across the street from D&B's ridiculously cool house which is converted from an old general store/post office. They have the perfect setup to accommodate a lots of friends, live music, amazing food, cute dogs, and a handful of extremely well-behaved babies and children. We're thrilled to have been a part of it, and plan to invite ourselves back next summer.

Let's Go Giants

If Andrew has your email address, chances are you're aware of his fanatic support of the New York Giants and his incessant emails with links, updates, and commentary. (I opted out, but I assume he still does this.) Well, after years of well-articulated pissing and moaning, he's finally found a home. Check out his writing at Giants Gab (a member of Sports Gab Network) where he is one of their new contributors!

4 Months Old!

On September 1, Emmett turned 4 months old. Just as the books predicted, our little guy has become a joy to be around - always smiling, laughing, squealing, babbling, and interested in everything. He's noticing the dogs, paying attention to books, examining objects, pulling himself to sitting and even supporting his weight standing (although he obviously can't do that without holding on to something or without one of us supporting him.) He also seems so proud of himself everytime he accomplishes something new. He's a big boy, but his next doctor's appointment isn't for another week and a half so we don't know his height/weight at the moment. (We'll be sure to update everyone after it happens.) Some pictures from the last week or two are below - enjoy!
